Downtown Las Vegas is not always high on the list of places to visit when planning a vacation but there is a goldmine of experiences and different options for the adventurous traveler. Hotel rates are lower, history is preserved a bit more and the new and evolving Las Vegas is ever present. Take a photo tour of some old and new and consider a journey down to Fremont Street. One of the things you'll notice when you arrive in Downtown Las Vegas is the proliferation of bars right on Fremont Street. It seems like every hotel now has an outdoor bar serving cheap frozen drinks and offering drink specials. Oh, yes, you’ll also see girls dancing on these bars.
Live music is a major component of entertainment on Fremont street and the Fremont Street experience so make sure to check out one of at least 3 stages that rocks with guest performers.
As you head east on Fremont Street you’ll notice a giant slot machine bordering the end of the canopy of lights. That is slotzilla and the cables that run high above your head are zip lines. If you have it in you, go to the top and strap yourself in for a ride all the way down Fremont Street on a zip line.
Fremont East is home to the El Cortez Hotel as well as the Container Park. New bars and restaurants are opening up all around this area and if you can recognize a city’s revitalization, you’ll be quick to point that there is a new wave of Las Vegas entertainment on the horizon.
If you venture north of Fremont Street take a stroll around the Mob Museum and get a history lesson in organized crime and ho wit played a part in the growth of sin city. This is an impressive attraction that focuses on more than just the Mob, it looks into the politics of gambling, crime and the growth of the city.
