Get the Red Out!

No need to cry over spilled wine (unless it’s really good red wine!). If you spill red wine on your carpet, furniture, tablecloth or clothes, there are several effective ways to easily remove the stain. There are a few commercial wine stain removal products on the market, but every day household items can be just as effective....

Here are a few:

1. Salt
Yup, good ol’ table salt does the trick.
Blot the stain with paper towels, sponge with cool water, sprinkle generously with salt, let sit for a few minutes and then sponge off or wash in machine.

2. Club Soda
Blot the stain with paper towels and soak well with club soda. Blot dry or wash in machine.

3. Baking Soda
Saturate the stain with cool water. Apply a paste of three parts baking soda to one part water, let dry, then vacuum or wash in machine.

4. White Wine
This is my least favorite method, because I hate to waste white wine on stain removal, but it does work. Sigh. Soak the stain with white wine, blot dry, and then sponge with cool water. Blot dry again or wash in machine.
